Malaga - Costa del Sol Airport (AGP)
Malaga - Costa del Sol airport, formerly known as Pablo Ruiz Picasso is the oldest airport in Spain still in its original location. Although it dates back to 1919, the airport officially opened for domestic and international flights in 1946.
Over the years there have been many changes and improvements made, mostly to coincide with the rapid growth of package holidays and tourism to southern Spain.
In 1991 the 'Pablo Ruiz Picasso' terminal (T2) was opened, which led to the original passenger terminal being transformed in 1995 into what is now the general aviation terminal used for the arrival and departure of private jets.
The latest improvement to the airport was March 2010, when King Juan Carlos of Spain opened the terminal 3.
With more than 12 million passengers passing through Malaga airport in 2010 and now with a capacity of 30 million, it is Spain s 4th busiest after Madrid, Barcelona and Palma de Majorca, with the largest volume of travellers coming & going from the UK.
